Night is long: Why working this shift may raise the risk of cardiac diseases

A study published in the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care finds that working night shifts can disrupt heart rhythm regulation and heighten cardiovascular disease risk. The research on 38 nurses revealed longer sleep latency and increased use of sleeping medication among night shift workers. It recommends breaks, support services, and flexible scheduling to mitigate these effects.
