Mpox in India: Centre issues advisory following first suspected case

Union health secretary Apurva Chandra has issued an advisory to states and UTs after WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern regarding Mpox. The advisory outlines surveillance strategies, laboratory testing facilities, clinical management protocols, infection control practices, and risk communication strategies. States are urged to prepare health facilities for both suspect and confirmed cases while preventing public panic.
