Veteran CPM leader Sitaram Yechury passed away at 72 after a prolonged illness. He was treated for Pneumonia at AIIMS, New Delhi. Yechury's political career spanned nearly five decades, including roles as CPIM general secretary and key figure in the INDIA bloc coalition of opposition parties. He mentored Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
