The Department of Atomic Energy in India will soon see its first 500MW Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor near Chennai become critical. This reactor is part of India's closed-fuel cycle nuclear program. Additionally, new nuclear power units have started operations in Gujarat and Rajasthan, with a new fuel complex being commissioned in Kota.
