Ahead of Diwali, Mumbai’s firecrackers pass noise tests

For the first time in 15 years, firecrackers tested by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Awaaz Foundation in Mumbai were found within permissible noise limits. However, 11 out of 30 samples contained banned chemicals like barium. Despite improvements in noise levels, concerns about toxic chemical content in crackers remain, prompting calls for further testing.
