Madras HC invokes special powers, annuls woman’s ‘forced’ marriage

The Madras High Court annulled the forced marriage of a 20-year-old woman to her former French teacher after she testified that the union was conducted under duress. The woman expressed her desire to pursue higher education and live with her parents. The court set aside the marriage registration, allowing her to leave with her parents.
