M Chandrasekhar, head of the Lokayukta Special Investigation Team (SIT), filed a complaint alleging threats from former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and his son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy. The threats allegedly stem from an ongoing illegal mining case investigation against Kumaraswamy. Chandrasekhar claims Kumaraswamy threatened to have him removed from his position and made false accusations against him and his family.
