Tuesday, 5 November 2024 Suresh Somji Bamaniya, a deputy SP of the Bhachau SRP group, was arrested on November 3rd for drunk driving and possession of illegal liquor. Bamaniya, returning from his hometown after Diwali, crashed his car on the Morbi-Kutch highway. Police discovered three liters of illicit liquor in his possession, leading to charges under the Gujarat Prohibition Act and Motor Vehicle Act.
Post-Diwali, Delhi's air quality plunged to "very poor" with an AQI of 361, significantly worse than last year's 218. RK Puram recorded the highest at 398, followed by other areas exceeding 395. Despite a firecracker ban, widespread violations were reported across the city, with visible residue. The situation was exacerbated by unfavorable weather conditions, stubble burning, and vehicular emissions.
