Government directs secretaries to promptly ‘respond’ to fake, negative news

The Indian government is taking steps to combat the spread of fake news and misinformation on social media. The government has instructed all secretaries to promptly respond to such news in a factual and articulated manner. The information and broadcasting ministry will prepare standard operating procedures to respond to fake news and misinformation.
