Justice Sanjiv Khanna becomes next CJI: Chief Justice of India powers and functions

Justice Sanjiv Khanna was sworn in as the 51st Chief Justice of India on Monday, succeeding Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. Justice Khanna, who has served as a Supreme Court judge since January 2019, will hold office until May 13, 2025. He has been involved in several landmark cases, including those related to EVMs, electoral bonds, and Article 370.
