Maharashtra poll impacts onion prices in West Bengal, rate spikes to Rs 80/kg

IndiaTimes Monday, 11 November 2024 ()
Onion prices in Kolkata have soared to Rs 80 per kg, triggering concerns of a 2019-like crisis. Supply disruptions in Nashik, potentially linked to the Maharashtra elections, are blamed for the spike. Garlic prices have also skyrocketed to Rs 350 per kg, while potato prices remain high despite government intervention. Ginger prices, however, have plummeted due to a new crop.
