4 days before Maharashtra polls, 5 Maoists killed in fierce encounter close to border

Five Maoists, including two women, were killed in a daylong encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region. Two jawans were also injured in the gunfight. The encounter took place in a jungle on the border of Kanker and Narayanpur districts, close to the Maharashtra border. Security personnel recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the encounter site.
