Maharashtra yet to have a woman chief minister

Maharashtra's 2024 assembly elections witnessed the highest number of women contestants yet, but their representation still falls short of 10%. While 24 women secured seats in 2019, the number decreased to 22 in the recent elections. Despite recent improvements, Maharashtra lags behind other states in female leadership, having never had a woman Chief Minister.
