Kuki-Zo youths shot multiple times, mostly on back in Manipur's Jiribram, reveals autopsy report
Sunday, 1 December 2024 () Ten Kuki-Zo youths, nine adults and one minor, were killed in an alleged gunfight with CRPF on November 11 in Manipur. Post-mortem exams indicated multiple bullet wounds, mostly from behind, without signs of torture. The victims were believed to be militants by police, while the ITLF claims they were village volunteers amid ongoing ethnic violence.
Manipur is once again plunged into chaos as violence escalates between Kuki insurgents and security forces. In a deadly encounter in Jiribam district, at least 11 suspected Kuki militants were shot dead by security forces after a violent attack on a Meitei farmer and a CRPF camp. As the region reels from the bloodshed, Naga groups have condemned the attack and imposed an indefinite blockade. In response, authorities have imposed a total curfew in an attempt to restore order. With ethnic tensions running high, the situation in Manipur remains volatile, with ongoing clashes threatening the fragile peace in the region.
