Sam Pitroda's phone, laptop hacked; tens of thousands in cryptocurrency demanded
Saturday, 7 December 2024 () Sam Pitroda, Chairperson of the Indian Overseas Congress, reported repeated hacking of his laptop, smartphone, and server. Hackers demanded tens of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency, threatening a smear campaign if unpaid. He cautioned his network against opening suspicious emails or messages, and plans to upgrade his security upon returning to Chicago.
