Sam Pitroda's phone, laptop hacked; tens of thousands in cryptocurrency demanded
Sam Pitroda, Chairperson of the Indian Overseas Congress, reported repeated hacking of his laptop, smartphone, and server. Hackers demanded tens of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency, threatening a smear campaign if unpaid. He cautioned his network against opening suspicious emails or messages, and plans to upgrade his security upon returning to Chicago.
