SC asks EC to study if parties can be within POSH Act ambit
Monday, 9 December 2024 The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission to determine if the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, should encompass registered political parties. This follows a petition highlighting the lack of robust internal complaint mechanisms within parties like BJP and Congress, despite allegations of harassment faced by women members, especially during campaigns.
The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to fire whistleblower chief Hampton Dellinger. The Biden appointee will remain in his post at least until Feb. 26 as legal proceedings continue. Liberal justices opposed the firing, while conservative justices dissented, arguing the court overstepped. This marks the first Supreme Court challenge to Trump’s removals.
