Ajit, Mushrif, Munde... several in ED's crosshairs get berths

IndiaTimes Sunday, 15 December 2024
Several Maharashtra ministers, including deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, are under ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations for money laundering. These ministers, formerly in the opposition, joined the BJP alliance. Conversely, BJP's Girish Mahajan joined the cabinet after a CBI investigation cleared him of extortion and kidnapping charges, subsequently leading to charges against an IPS officer and others.

The Centre has approved the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) request to prosecute former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and ex-deputy CM Manish Sisodia under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in the excise policy case. This decision follows Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena’s recommendation. Both leaders, granted bail earlier, face allegations of irregularities in the 2021-22 excise policy.
