Engineer suspended for dereliction of duty, snow-clearance ops underway in J&K's Kishtwar-Doda
Sunday, 29 December 2024 The deputy commissioner of Doda suspended the assistant executive engineer due to poor performance and neglect in clearing snow-blocked rural roads in Doda and Kishtwar districts. An inquiry revealed unauthorized absence from duty, causing delays and difficulties for residents. Mukesh Kumar and Umar Jan have been assigned additional responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
Heavy snowfall and landslides have disrupted traffic across Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Ladakh highways. Several districts, including Rajouri, Doda, and Anantnag, are covered in thick snow. Authorities have issued an avalanche alert in Himachal’s Lahaul-Spiti region. While daily life is affected, farmers have welcomed the fresh snowfall. Weather conditions are expected to improve by the afternoon.
