In Bastar, battle for hearts & minds via bijli-sadak-paani
Monday, 30 December 2024 In Bastar's remote village of Rekavaya, a wave of development is transforming the region, replacing conflict with progress. With the establishment of security camps and rebuilding efforts, schools and basic amenities are returning. The Chhattisgarh government is combining security measures with development projects and a revamped rehabilitation policy to win over both the local population and former Maoist cadres.
Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: In a major anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division neutralized 22 Maoists in two separate encounters. The first gunfight took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where 18 Maoists were killed. Another encounter in Kanker district led to the elimination of four more insurgents. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in the operation. Weapons and explosives were recovered from the sites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the success, reaffirming the government's commitment to a ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ (Naxal-free India).
