Fresh snowfall in Srinagar, parts of Kashmir; mercury below freezing point
Sunday, 5 January 2025 Srinagar and several parts of Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall, with temperatures staying below freezing for the second consecutive day. Kokernag was the coldest at minus 8.1 degrees Celsius. Kashmir is currently undergoing 'Chillai-Kalan', the harshest winter period, which started on December 21 and ends on January 30.
A heartbreaking road accident in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, has claimed the lives of three brave Indian Army soldiers. The soldiers were traveling on the Bandipora-Srinagar road when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge. Despite immediate medical evacuation efforts, three soldiers succumbed to their injuries. The remaining injured soldiers are receiving treatment.
