A cough and cold outbreak in Kolkata has left thousands with sore throats and a temporary loss of voice. The infection lasts three to four weeks despite medication and progresses into sinusitis, laryngitis, or pharyngitis. The fluctuating temperatures over the last fortnight have contributed to the surge in infections, say doctors.
