Godhra train carnage convict jumps parole, held in Nashik for theft

A 2002 Godhra train carnage convict, Salim alias Salman Zarda, who had twice violated parole, was arrested with four associates by Pune rural police. The gang, involved in stealing materials from parked trucks, was caught in Chandwad, Nashik district. Zarda was originally sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment, and had absconded since September 2023.
