32 lakh temples to come under one bloc to boost religious tourism
Wednesday, 12 February 2025 () Around 32 lakh temples globally, primarily in India, will form a unified federation to efficiently manage tourism and spiritual circuits. The International Temples Convection and Expo (ITCX) 2025 in Tirupati will bring together various religious institutions to modernize temple management, focusing on technology, sustainability, and community services.
At least six people lost their lives and several were injured during a stampede near Tirupati's Vishnu Nivasam on Wednesday. The chaos erupted as hundreds of devotees gathered for Vaikunta Darshan tokens, leading to overcrowding and tragedy. Despite TTD’s arrangements for token distribution across multiple centers, pilgrims began thronging lodges a day earlier, overwhelming officials. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep condolences for the victims' families.
