A rescue operation in MP's Mauganj district turned deadly as a mob killed a hostage, Sunny Dwivedi, and an assistant sub-inspector. The chaos erupted when villagers, believing Sunny was responsible for an earlier death, became violent after discovering he had died during captivity. Several policemen were injured during the incident.
