Chennai encounter: Wanted criminal involved in 50 chain snatching cases shot dead

A chain snatcher, Jaffer Gulam Hussain, was killed in a police encounter near Taramani railway station. He previously targeted multiple victims in Chennai and was wanted by Maharashtra police since 2020. During an attempt to recover stolen jewellery, Jaffer attacked an inspector and tried to escape, leading to the fatal shooting.
