The Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is renowned for its unique golden and silver lizard carvings. Legend has it that Lord Indra, cursed to become an elephant, was redeemed by Lord Vishnu at this temple, while two lizards witnessed the event. Indra, in gratitude, created the carvings.
