Nasa launches mission to metal-rich asteroid Psyche

NASA has launched a spacecraft to explore Psyche, a metal-rich asteroid that is believed to be the core of an ancient protoplanet. The spacecraft, powered by solar-electric ion thrusters, will travel 2.2 billion miles through space to reach its destination in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Its mission is to study Psyche's gravity, magnetic properties, and composition.
