BHP bid for Anglo American spotlights surge in copper demand

From electric vehicles, to solar panels, wind turbines and energy storage - the diverse uses of copper in the green energy sector have created a surge in demand for the metal. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the copper market grew by around 50 percent between 2017 and 2022, reaching nearly $200 billion.
