NASA's Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) technology, demonstrated aboard the Psyche spacecraft, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by successfully transmitting engineering data over 140 million miles using optical communication. Although Psyche primarily uses radio frequency for data transmission, this feat showcases the potential of optical communication for future missions, including sending humans to Mars.
