UK government backs Russians competing as neutrals
Tuesday, 9 April 2024 The UK government has written to the IOC and IPC expressing support for them allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete at Paris 2024 as neutrals.
Russians living in the southern city of Orsk are demanding compensation from the government for flood damage caused to their homes after the city’s dam burst. Local media say around 7,000 homes in the city have been flooded.
Demonstrators in Abkhazia stormed government buildings to oppose a proposal allowing Russians to buy property, fearing it would inflate prices and increase Moscow’s influence.
