Hamas has accepted a U.S. proposal to negotiate the release of Israeli hostages, potentially ending the nine-month Gaza conflict. This decision comes 16 days after the initial agreement phase aimed at ceasing hostilities. Hamas demands Israel commit to a permanent ceasefire but is open to a temporary one during the six-week talks. The conflict has caused over 38,000 Palestinian and 1,200 Israeli deaths, with 250 hostages. The proposal includes a ceasefire, aid delivery, and Israeli troop withdrawal.
