China authorities arrest 2 for smashing shortcut through Great Wall with excavator

Two construction workers named Zheng and Wang were arrested in China for allegedly smashing a path through a section of the Great Wall. The breach occurred in a broken-down section far from the restored segments most tourists visit. The pair wanted a shortcut for their construction work in nearby towns. The Great Wall, built during the Ming dynasty, is a symbol of patriotism and resistance to outside pressure.
