UNESCO puts 2 locations in war-ravaged Ukraine on its list of historic sites in danger
Friday, 15 September 2023 The United Nations' World Heritage Committee has added two historical sites in Ukraine to its list of endangered sites. The St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv and the medieval center of Lviv are UNESCO World Heritage Sites that are important to Ukraine's culture and history. While neither site has been directly targeted in the ongoing conflict with Russia, the decision to list them as endangered could help deter further attacks.
Santiniketan, the home of late Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage sites list, the world body announced on Sunday.
