US judge rejects Trump's request to step down from criminal election trial

A judge has rejected former President Donald Trump's request for her to step aside from the federal case accusing him of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election. US District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that her prior remarks in court did not show bias against Trump. Trump's lawyers argued that Chutkan's comments during hearings about the Capitol riot demonstrated her preconceived conclusions about his criminal responsibility.
