Sifting for hostages to be a daunting task

Hamas militants have taken approximately 120 hostages, including civilians and soldiers, after attacking Israel and killing over 1,300 people. The Israeli army estimates that the total number of hostages could be around 150, but it is unsure if they are alive or dead. Israeli forces have entered Gaza in search of evidence to locate the hostages, while Hamas has threatened to kill them in response to Israeli strikes on civilian targets.
