Trucks blocked highways, leaving drivers stuck and in need of emergency assistance. The Lake District community of Ambleside experienced severe weather conditions, resembling an Alpine ski resort. Emergency services, including the Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service and Cumbria Police, worked tirelessly to rescue stranded travelers. Schools, churches, and a scout hut offered temporary shelter.
