Ukraine December road food exports fall 30.6% amid Polish drivers' strike
Wednesday, 6 December 2023 Ukraine's food shipments by road decreased 30.6% in December due to a drivers' strike at Polish border crossings. The strike was a result of government inaction over lost business since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Before the strike, Polish border crossings accounted for 50% of Ukrainian land road freight traffic. The average daily throughput of agricultural products across the border in December decreased to 12,538 tons. Ukraine is expected to harvest 79 million tons of grain and oilseed in 2023, with a 2023/24 exportable surplus of 50 million tons.
