Houthi attacks push 2 shipping giants to pause Red Sea voyages

IndiaTimes Friday, 15 December 2023
Houthi militants' attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea have caused trade disruption and prompted vessel owners to evaluate crew safety. Container shipping lines and oil tanker firms are pausing transits and insisting on charters that allow alternative routes. This puts pressure on the US to improve security in this important trade corridor. The attacks are in response to the war in Gaza. A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S and Germany's Hapag-Lloyd AG have instructed their vessels to pause voyages after being targeted.
