Pakistan's election body issues election schedule for Feb 8 polls on Supreme Court's order
Saturday, 16 December 2023 Pakistan's general elections schedule has been issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after the Supreme Court overturned the Lahore High Court's decision to suspend the appointment of officials for overseeing the elections. The ECP's notification states that candidate nominations can be filed from December 20-22, with the scrutiny of documents taking place from December 24-30. Appeals against the decisions on nomination papers will be accepted until January 3, and the final decision on appeals will be made by January 10. The election symbols will be allotted on January 13, with the polls scheduled for February 8.
