Sri Lanka's police have arrested nearly 15,000 people in a military-backed anti-narcotics drive, seizing 440kg of narcotics. The operation, named 'Yuktiya' or 'Justice', targeted drug trafficking in the country, which is believed to be a transit point. The arrests have been criticized by rights activists who claim that the raids were conducted illegally without search warrants. The police have focused on apprehending drug users and small-time dealers, but activists argue that they should also target large-scale traffickers.
