NYC protesters for Gaza ceasefire hold mock funeral
Friday, 29 December 2023 Pro-Palestinian protesters staged a mock funeral in New York to demonstrate against Israel's heavy bombardment of Gaza. Holding banners demanding a ceasefire, activists gathered in Bryant Park and briefly stood in the middle of Sixth Avenue. Women shrouded in black held baby dolls to represent the toll on children. The protest continued in Times Square with electronic advertisements as a backdrop. Since the October 7 attack, at least 21,320 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza. New York City has seen protests from both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel demonstrators.
