Thursday, 4 January 2024
Many US allies, including Germany and Canada, issued advisories for their citizens to evacuate swiftly from Lebanon due to the recent drone strike in Beirut that killed Hamas leader Saleh al-Aruri. Germany urged its citizens to register on the ELEFAND crisis preparedness list and emphasized the unpredictable situation, while Canada expressed concerns about the escalation of hostilities. The United States and Sweden also called for their citizens to leave Lebanon. Israel is suspected of the assassination, which has led to threats of retaliation from Hezbollah, raising fears of a broader conflict.
