UK maternal deaths reaches highest level in 20 years: Study

The number of women dying during pregnancy in Britain has reached its highest level in two decades, with black women and those from deprived areas being most impacted. A report found that the UK has disparities in outcomes for women depending on their ethnicity. The main cause of death was blood clots in the veins, and heart disease and poor mental health were also common causes. More investment and training in maternity services are needed, according to experts.
