US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin released from hospital
Tuesday, 16 January 2024 US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was released from the hospital after complications from prostate cancer treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His hospitalization was not revealed until later. Doctors said Austin's prognosis for prostate cancer is excellent and he will not need further treatment. The Defense Department's inspector general's office will review the handling of Austin's hospitalization. Doctors at Walter Reed said the Pentagon chief had received testing and non-surgical care to address needs including leg pain and would not need further cancer treatment.
