Wednesday, 17 January 2024 Fresh off his recent win in the Iowa Republican caucuses, former President Donald Trump finds himself in a Manhattan courtroom, facing a high-stakes defamation lawsuit brought forth by writer E. Jean Carroll. This comes after Carroll had previously won a separate sexual-abuse case against him last year. The trial, overseen by US District Judge Lewis Kaplan, will determine the amount of damages Trump will have to pay Carroll, after being found liable for defamation.
