Rishi Sunak draws flak for 'defining a woman' jibe in presence of murdered trans girl's mother
Thursday, 8 February 2024 Rishi Sunak drew criticism on Wednesday for making a remark mocking the position of Labour Party leader Keir Starmer on the definition of a woman, shortly after it was announced that the mother of a murdered transgender teenager was present in Parliament. Sunak said that "defining a woman" was on a list of Starmer's broken promises, joking it had been "only 99% of a U-turn".
The policing minister Chris Philp has defended Rishi Sunak’s jibe about transgender people during PMQs on Wednesday, saying “It’s very clear that the Prime Minister was holding Keir Starmer to account.”
