EU conservatives set to back von der Leyen for second term

The European People's Party (EPP), the largest group in the EU parliament, is expected to officially back Ursula von der Leyen's bid for a second term as European Commission chief. Von der Leyen, who has successfully led the Commission through various crises, including the Covid pandemic and the Ukraine conflict, is seeking a mandate until 2029.
