EU conservatives set to back von der Leyen for second term
Thursday, 7 March 2024 The European People's Party (EPP), the largest group in the EU parliament, is expected to officially back Ursula von der Leyen's bid for a second term as European Commission chief. Von der Leyen, who has successfully led the Commission through various crises, including the Covid pandemic and the Ukraine conflict, is seeking a mandate until 2029.
