Hong Kong scraps early release for national security convicts

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 26 March 2024
Hong Kong's leader announced on Tuesday that individuals convicted on national security charges will no longer qualify for early release based on good behavior, as per a freshly implemented law by the city's authorities. This decision follows reports from local media stating that democracy activist Ma Chun-man, found guilty in 2021 for "incitement of secession," was anticipated for release on Monday but has been detained.
