Mali's junta suspends all political activities until further notice

Mali's ruling junta has announced a suspension of all political activities until further notice, citing the need to maintain public order. The decision, made on Wednesday during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, follows the postponement of elections last year. Junta spokesman Abdoulaye Maiga delivered the statement on state television. Mali has experienced two coups since 2020, setting off a wave of political instability that has swept across West and Central Africa.
