Biden to sign order that halts asylum if migrant arrival hits 2,500 in a day

The White House has informed lawmakers that President Joe Biden is planning to approve an executive order that will halt asylum requests at the US-Mexico border. This measure will come into effect once the number of daily encounters reaches 2,500 between ports of entry. The border will reopen for asylum seekers when the daily encounters decrease to 1,500.
